Your time is valuable so you can choose not to waste it on cleaning, washing and ironing. Instead, let us deal with your household duties allowing you to give your loved ones the greatest gift you can; your time.

If this sounds like the perfect solution for you – you need to employ a Housekeeper, who can offer you support with the day-to-day routines of a busy family.

A live-in Housekeeper will always be on hand to help you. Their duties may include:

  • general cleaning
  • tidying up rooms
  • laundry
  • ironing
  • making the beds
  • organising cupboards
  • pet care
  • shopping
  • running errands for family and other light duties as requested

A Housekeepers duties and the hours worked in this role are negotiable and a clear job description would need to be written into the contract. The family would also be expected to provide a separate bedroom and all meals.

The wage for a Housekeeper depends on the hours worked, experience and the range of duties. Usually weekly salaries are between £250 – £450.

NANNY / HOUSEKEEPER ROLE

Nanny/Housekeeper is a very popular and practical position where two services are mixed into one. Most Nanny/Housekeepers take responsibility for childcare before and after school time, carrying out household duties when the children are at school.

In this double role the family need to provide a very clear job description and schedule of when the Nanny/Housekeeper can undertake household duties (e.g during nap time, school time) because is hard to do clean properly and look after the children at the same time. The most important role is to supervise the children and ensure their safety at all times so this takes priority.

It is all about negotiation between the family and the candidate as this role must be very flexible and be adapted to the specific needs of each family in terms of the hours worked and the duties. For this reason a clear job description would need to be written into the contract. The family would also be expected to provide a separate bedroom and all meals.

A typical salary for live-in Nanny/ Housekeeper is between £350 – £500 per week.
